About us
The hostel, near the South Coast attractions, offers a uniquely modern design. Dormitories contain bunk beds (double and single), housing a maximum of 6 beds per room. Additionally, 8 private rooms upstairs feature comfy queen-size beds, some with mountain and glacier views. Shared bathrooms, a makeup room with hairdryers, and a fully equipped kitchen are available.
A dining area, lobby, and bar serving drinks, local beer, coffee, and snacks are part of the amenities. Receptionists and bartenders assist guests from early morning until midnight.

Nice room, the curtains on the beds are very opaque and therefore pleasant in the morning when everyone leaves. The common kitchen is large. The reception hall is super comfortable. It’s very close to the Black sand beach.

The Barn hostel is ideally located when travelling the ring road as you will find some of the regions major natural attractions within short driving distances. Reynisfjara black beach is almost in our backyard, only 4 minutes drive from the hostel. Dyrhólaey island is located 19 km away.
Our hostel is located 7 km from the small and charming village of Viking in Mýrdalur valley. It is the southernmost village in Iceland and there you have access to all necessary services and amenities, such as restaurants, bars, coffee shops and grocery stores.
You will also find an abundance of adventurous activities in the surroundings, such as horse riding tours, ice cave adventures and a variety of day tours.
